I have a better appreciation for this thread since I finally got to experience the high desert late last year. I always loved the photography however. They say the wildflower bloom this year in Big Bend was the best in 40 years. I agree with you that the river road is an experience not to be missed. I stood below the DOM rock on the Hill but didn't consider going up there.
