I would be shocked if a coyote opened up a j hook.
I read that wolves can and do, but there's a UUUge difference.
I'm about to go down to Hacienda del Brute Killer. I sacked up a bunch of our dogs' droppings and will try that method. Also tighten up pan tension.
Hopefully I can post up some catches. And I'm going to try calling too.

Just take the whole dog, let him wander around and sniff and pee while your getting your set ready, it gets the alpha pair fired up this time of year.

We have a pair of dachshunds. I think they get lost in the dirt clods and Tall Grass.

I have five coyote sets in so far this evening and two dog proof sets. Some of the coyotes sets with bait and lure some with droppings and urine.
Putting in more now. Hoping to have some dancing dogs in the morning.

I put one more in. I don't want to be pounded in stakes or digging holes while the coyotes may be starting to roam around.

Is this good coyote sign? I hope so, because I set on it.

Them mb's are pretty awesome, the only trap that held a deer long enough for her to beat the tree down to toothpick pile, but she was gone when I got there. For those that are wondering, it was the first deer I'd caught in about 10 yrs, and I knew better than to set at that saltbrush bush, it's a major late winter food source out here.
