Got my knee worked on today

I was finally able to jump thru all the insurance hoops and get my knee cut on. They fixed a tear on one side, removed cysts under the knee cap that turned out being larger then the doctor thought. Also smoothed out some bad spots between the joint. Going to be off for a 3-4 weeks because of my job duties.

Now if I could get comfortable for a few hours I might be able to get some sleep but it's not happening. Trying not to take pain pills.

A good thing that might happen out of this is the doctor going to MRI my left knee in 2 weeks and most likely fix it while I got time off. ( more tears ) .

This has really screwed up my deer season, but I might be able to walk and run after my granddaughter again when this is all done.

Take the meds. Better to get a good nights sleep than suffer in pain. One day won't get ya hooked. My right knee is in need of replacing. I feel your pain.

Climbed in bed at 10pm and wide awake at 2am. Rolled over onto the just worked on knee!!! Don't think I ever got out of bed that quick b4.

Guess I'll do updates on the phones and iPads now, plus watch a little Walker Texas Ranger.

It takes awhile I have had 3 surgeries on my left knee and 2 on my right I found the only comfortable place to get some sleep was in my recliner with a pillow under my knee and a glass of scotch in my hand. Ice packs are your best friend.
I go in for a new experimental injection in both knees tomorrow some kind of gel that is supposed to feel like the Dr. in injecting hot lava in my knees then in six months they will repeat the process. If that doesn't work then I get new knees.

A different doctor did three gel shots in the knee b4 doing a MRI on it and finding the real damage. Went to a different specialist that would explain things better and told me about the cyst that could be seen on the MRI. He did my surgery.

I guess a update of sorts. 1st surgery was 10-9-17 on the right knee and the 2nd was on 11-15-17 on the left knee. Still off work and going crazy at home. Doctor will not release me off of restrictions because right knee is not healing like he wants it to. They finally had me start PT the second week of December for 6wks. So far so good. Work told me not to comeback til all restrictions are lifted. Good thing is at least I’m not having to worry about the new electronic logging law. Heard from the guys I work with, bosses are trying to figure away around it and telling the drivers to drive or find another job. It will be interesting when I do get back now.

Meds are given for a reason...take them as prescribed, no reason to take the pain!! Problem with pain meds, if you skip trying to be he-man, it's much more difficult to "chase" the pain for control. I doubt you were prescribed an amount that will cause you any "addiction" problems. I know from experience, worked in a pain clinic (sales) and know the process.

Post surgery ice is your friend. I used an ice chest with a pump, and a pad for knees. Runs about 4 hours between refills. I cannot remember what they are called, but we bought this one, the can be rented. Really too late for you, but insist on one next time.

Depends on the doctor, some will prescribe stuff that is very addicting to some people, others will give you prescriptions that don't hardly do anything for a common headache.

If you can stay off the pills, it's best. Also from experience, don't drink alcohol. If you have knee problems, you may have already noticed that drinking alcohol can make the pain, you experience, much greater. I don't know if it has something to do with thinning the blood. But I have a lot of knee problems, lots of damage to the cartilage in both knees. My left knee, there is almost no cartilage left, been so for many years. I have had multiple knee injuries, the last one, I shattered my left knee in a bunch of pieces. The whole deal was a big mess, but luckily they were able to find a doctor that could put my knee back together, for a while there it was looking like they were going to try and amputate my leg. It took a long time to heal, when I got out of the hospital, the pills they gave me did not do any good, I could not tell any difference between when I had taken some and when I had not taken any. So I quick taking them. I experienced a lot of pain for a long time, I was not able to sleep for over two months. They finally gave me some ambien, I was told it would knock me out very quickly, the first bottle did not do anything for me. The second bottle, I don't know what was different, but it put me to sleep and caused me to have the worst night mares of my life, made me afraid to go to sleep. I quit taking the stuff after a week, my body by that point, had gotten into the routine of sleeping again, so I quit taking the ambien. I don't know what was different with the second batch they gave me, but that was some bad stuff.

There were so many problems caused, as a result of the knee injury, other than the knee injury, one was the not sleeping for two months, another was I only felt like eating fruits for weeks afterwards, eventually I started eating eggs. I don't know if it was the hospital food or what the reason was. When I got home, I finally felt like eating real food again, I remember eating a steak that at the time seemed like the greatest steak I had ever eaten. There were multiple other strange things that happened, that I can not explain, the doctors would not answer any of my questions, when I asked. I don't know what all they really gave me in the hospital, but whatever they gave me, it messed me up in many ways. It was a military hospital, I really felt like I was getting used as a guinea pig, for various drugs.
