Cool find at deer camp

My buddy Thowin’ Darts bought a ranch in Young County this spring.

After the mirning hunt, we found an old well behind one of the feeder pens. It’s probably 25’ deep. When we shined a light down it, we were surprised to see a rat snake laying on top of a dead hog....Guess they both fell down recently.

At some point we want to go back with a meta detector. We’re hoping there’s an old homestead nearby.

I’d definitely look at making a cover for that. It’s amazing how many hand dug wells are out there. Some of them still provide good water sources today.

I second covering it, and preserve it.
It looks old, so maybe do a little research and try to find out the history of the property.
