    Float valve question....

How hard will it be to replace the float valve? Will you have to dig up the end where your pex makes the connection or what? I ask because most toilet floats pass through the tank that they are mounted to.

Great install. Figuring on duplicating your set up in dry east texas.... Raining all around me but not on my lease.

If you do have to change the entire float then yes you will have to dig under that corner, but most that I've ever had to do is remove the top "cap" 1/4 turn to access the gaskets, floats, etc. they also sell kits that change most of these components from the top. Been a while since we've been out there, my FIL has filled it up once since July so something has been drinking many gallons of water! Hope to get out and setup blind in October.

Pit Blind Install & Game Cam Updates (kinda)

Its funny how time gets away, 4 months after heading out West we had a chance to get our gear together to finally put in the pit blind built over the summer.
The actual pit 5.5 X 4 and 18" will give plenty of room for the wife and little one in the blind. I chose hardy backer concrete board to resist rotting out.

A little digging in the west texas sand quickly gave me a nice place to start.

Once the pit was leveled up it was now time to shave the dirt on the outside to merge it with the blind, some rebar tied between both parts will hold everything together.

A little concrete on the ledges will provide a area to hold gear and keep the critters out. Tomorrow the last step is to pour the floor and smooth out the exterior and brush it all in. As far as the waterer goes its going strong, I found my TC had been thrashed and it appears to have worked only 2-3 weeks after our last visit in late July. Here are few picts from that period I think they like. My FIL has had to fill it once since June.

              Awesome!
What's the round portion of the blind made of?

That's sweet! I'm also curious about what the blind's exterior is made of.

Sorry might help to give a little about the construction part. The frame is 1" angle iron rolled into a 6' ring with angle iron supports along to window ports and the door frame.

The skin is 26 gauge flat sheet metal that is typically used to make sheet metal, I purchased 45' of it for $70.00, so I could paint it myself to save the $!
I'll let the pictures tell the rest.

I put the finishing touches on the blind yesterday, I brushed in a few cut trunks. My wife and little girl came out to see the progress, I think the "inspector" approves!
