What if people on TBH intend to use this credit and buy a bow with it? And do you honestly think that if someone told you to check this box and double your return, you wouldn't do it?

The EIC is not a new thing. It has been around for a very long time. And people of all colors, race, ethnicity, religion and financial standing have been using and abusing it for years and years.

If you are not getting it maybe you need a better tax person.

And if getting a large tax return is such a bad thing, why is no one complaining about the television commercials where they vow to get you the largest return possible?

Not to sound like a total jerk, but losing one income would eliminate the need for day care and might even throw you in a tax bracket where your credit could change to a higher value.

It's taxpayer fraud, not a "loophole". And everyone who practices it should be prosecuted (better yet, STOPPED with better oversight).
Here is Forbes' take on the video: (click "Continue to site", then read both pages)
VideoEarlier this month, a reader sent me an email with a link to a news clip from Channel 13 (WHTR in Indianapolis) with the title "13 Investigates: IRS tax loophole." She wrote: "I was wondering if it was true...seems a little far-fetched to me." I checked it out and dismissed it as [...]

I related a story recently about how some cousins of mine convinced an elderly, befuddled parent (very well off - oil profits) to give them his money for the purpose of getting him on to Medicaid so that the govt would have to pay for his nursing home/long term care. God forbid the man use his own money to decrease their eventual inheritance.

Burnadell saw that post and pointed out that they had, in fact, committed fraud.

Another bunch on that same side of the family refused to buy health insurance and somehow hid their assets from the County hospital (John Peter Smith in Ft. Worth) when one of them suffered a catastrophic injury at home. They, too, were quite well off. I don't know how they did it, but they got "free" or "freeish" health care to the tune of several hundred thousands of dollars.

The point is, certainly illegal immigrants should be STOPPED doing this. And so should everyone else.

I guess you missed the part above where the EIC has been around for 38 years. So yeah at least 2 two term republican presidents were a part of the socialist shift....

Getting the largest portion possible of what you paid in back is one thing. Getting back more than you paid in is another.

Both are legal and encouraged. What is the problem? No laws were broken in the receipt of a large tax return, and no one was defrauded.

Funny how we all know these points but still we can't do anything about it. I am not married, have no kids, and rent. I don't even know what a tax return is.

What ****** me off is that I have type 1 diabetes and could use a little help,300 dollars a month just to stay alive. plus the ins i pay at work, but since I am white and don't have 15 kids. I have to suffer. I work 50 hrs a week, take care of my elderly mother and 100 acre ranch.

Why can't any one see that there is a new minority and it's the white blue collar worker.

Yes I know it's legal. But you don't see a problem with it? And yes someone was defrauded... All American taxpayers.
