Tip I have learned over the years: Wrap 3-4" of aluminum foil around the bases before putting the skull in the pot. This will keep most all of the grease and other funk from getting on the bases. Doesnt have to be perfect around the bases, just wrap it around. Then before you put on your peroxide paste, put several wraps of electrical tape on the bases. Get it just over the edge of the base. Keeps any of the paste of the antlers and saves you from having to do any touch up/recoloring.

I don’t use paste. I use liquid peroxide
