    From Firewood to Furniture-Pee-can Edition>>

Had a pretty good sized pecan lay over in the bottom last year and just got around to cutting it up. I saved 12'+ of the trunk for live edge slabs, cut my wife a 32" across by 6" thick butcher block out of it, and carved a 36" tall cross out of one of the limbs. I have not taken any pics of the live edge lumber yet, but plan on making a 10/4 live edge bookmatched dinner table for my mother in law out of some of it. Thought you'd enjoy seeing the start of some of the projects I've got in mind for it.....

X2. I would love to hear the steps you took from chainsawing the cross to finished product. Imagining some grinder, some sander, etc. but actual tools and grit details would be great. It's really beautiful.

chainsaw and palmsander with 320 grit is all takes

If you want to expedite the process you could incorporate a reciprocating saw with 8'' blade and 7'' angle grinder with 36 grit paper wheel on it as I did. Neither are necessary to complete the task but using them will save time. Thanks for the compliments!

I really like that cross, but REALLY want to see the 10/4 table when it's done.
