I was an impressionable child during the Reagan years and my dad used to cure steelhead eggs with borax. Double goodness.

Yes I think I remember Death Valley( I believe there was an elderly lady with curly lt. grey hair) , and still use borax.

I grew up watching the reruns. Last year on the way to Yosemite we drove through Borax and I wanted to stop and see if we could tour where the 20 team Borax is mined, but we was pressed for time
