My dad's big game rifle (which actually belongs to my deceased grandfather) is a 7mm Shooting Times Westerner. Don't see many of them anymore and there are only a few ammunition companies still offering it, his regular deer rifle is a .264 Win Mag, that cartridge has pretty much gone the way of the dodo too and don't know why, everyone wants a 6.5 caliber but forget about the ol' "bean field" cartridge.

I shoot a 6.5x55, not gone, but not popular.

All the JDJs are gone, .307 Winchester, Weatherby's line, amongst others.

A few that I own that are not completely gone but are hard to find ammo for off the shelf:
                35 Rem
                300 savage
                257 rob
                6mm rem

At this rate it may become the most popular of ALL TIME!

                      the WSM family
                      any bottle necked rimfire
                      357 sig
                      260 Rem
a lot of the AR hybrids

                      Going back in history:

                      222
                      222 Magnum
                      264 Winchester Magnum
                      300 H&H
                      7-30 waters
                      the Weatherby line

We as shooters are a fickle bunch, whats popular today can be gone tomorrow and vice versa. I can remember when the 22 Hornet and 45-70 almost disappeared. I can also remember when the 7mm STW was on every magazine cover and praised in every publication. Will the 6.5 CM go away? Highly unlikely and it will probably continue to be a factory offered cartridge but I see it's current popularity waning as the kool aid wears off. Every new cartridge offered in a factory gun is designed to increase gun sales, not fill a need, which is great for the gun industry. A strong gun industry only strengthens our gun rights.
The 7X30 Waters has some popularity in the Winchester 94s but not a lot, but the 7X30 Waters is one of the most popular T/C Contender calibers. The most popular Contender calibers are 7X30 Waters, 357 Rem Max., 30-30 Win., 223, then the 45-70, 45 LC/410 barrels and the 44 Rem Mag. Then there are a bunch of other calibers available. There are a lot of calibers that may not be the most common main stream calibers, you will find at Wal Mart and Academy, but are very popular niche calibers.

.300 Savage... more than a few years as the most popular N. American game cartridge.
                          .308 did it in.
Still have a Model 99 that I inherited from my grandad... shoot it and love it well.

                            244 rem re-twisted and named 6mm rem

280 rem renamed 7nmm rem returned back to 280 rem

That's a pretty decent list. I would add to that the .375 Winchester. It was once available in the Marlin lever action as well as the Winchester Big Bore 94. I have a 94 as well as a Contender pistol in this caliber and my ammo is closely monitored It is almost unavailable and when you do find it, it's higher than a cat's back.

It was renamed the 7mm Express before returning to .280 Remington. IMO it's the absolute best medium game cartridge out there, and can go up to include elk with the proper loads.
