If you could buy either a 22 lr or 22 mag what would you get. Same identical rifle and wanting to shoot coons and stuff like that with a suppressor. Give me your thoughts

I've owned both and unless you are shooting long range (which can still be done with 22lr) the mag doesn't really seem to give that much. Coons, Skunks, feral cats, ect are all easily handled by the 22lr. Which on that thought, coyotes, bobcats, and even hogs can be taken out with the 22lr, if you have the right spot. Not much need for the more expensive higher velocity round. IMOComment

.22mag for raccoons. I don't know anything about suppressors but I do know on a big boar coon a .22lr is weak sauce.Comment

.22lr subsonic if you are shooting suppressed. I shoot hogs in traps with it. It will kill coons.
I shoot a self-built custom 10/22 and it is sub MOA at 100yds. Whisper quiet.Comment

I have that rifle with a black stock in 22 mag. Buds had them on sale for about a year ago. I dont have a suppressor on it and its stays in my mule on a overhead rack. They are good guns for the money. It is very picky on ammo and the Remington Premiere(unavailable now) was the most accurate followed by Winchester HV. CCI would not group at all.
I put a junky Vortex 2-7 x 35 Diamonback on it
