Viking Archery Canyon Lake Texas (thumbs down)

I went in to Viking Archery in Startzville/Canyon Lake Area today on my lunch break. I was the only customer in the business and the gentleman working was very uninterested in helping me and I had to introduce myself first to get any type of response after several minutes of walking around looking at bows and sights. Every answer to my questions if he even did answer my questions was short and blunt. I felt like I was bothering the man even though I was pleasant and positive when speaking to him. He was unprofessional, unhelpful, rude, and grumpy. I personally will not buy or direct anyone to Viking Archery. Lets hear other TBHers views...

Yeah, sounds like he caught him in a good mood.

Many years ago... In Houston Viking Archery has always had a bad reputation when it comes to dealing with customers. The father of the family that started the shop was prone to violent outburst with customers if they questioned his products at all (custom bows). I personally watched him rip into a man about a custom bow request and finally kicked him out of the shop just for asking questions.

The two sons always seamed cool headed and knowledgeable. Thought they had taken over the shop 5 or more years ago.

My only reason to go into the shop was the small museum like area of Fred Bear and old archery stuff, very cool.

That's the old man for ya. He was like that in Houston also. Once he left Houston that place became very helpful and enjoyable.

If this is the same old man that worked the Viking in Houston then STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a Hoyt from him and had no issues. One day I was up there shooting and called a friend that worked nearby to come shoot my new bow with. Well my friend got escorted out with a pistol pointing at him for no reason. That was a really aweful moment. Another trip with my buddy that gets Hoyt bows through sponsorship went in to have them rig his nib hoyt out. Old man told him to get out and find someone else to rig his bow for no reason at all. Friend even asked the old man if he did anything to offend him and old man says "no", but get out and take your bow with you Which leads to the last time I was in the store with one of my customers who was a successful doctor in the area and he wanted to spend money in the store and buy a new bow. As old man was showing him new bows he made a comment that the price of bows had gone up a lot since he bought his last bow, even though he and i both knew he was going to buy one that day from Viking because we were leaving that evening to go on a trip. Old man looked at him with a crazy look and said to get his *** out of his store and never come back. Needless to say, I have never been back and wont ever go there again. He's not right in the head.

This was probably one of the more successful experiences with the him.

The a-hole's name is Tim Whiteford, and you just experienced what literally thousands of others have experienced over the years from him... I would NEVER set foot in any Viking Archery store and would not recommend anyone else go in there either. I was a customer for years, and never understood what all the other folks were talking about when they bashed him... then one day it happened to me... I tried to talk to him about it much later, he went off on me again... I literally spent thousands of dollars in his store and took friends there to introduce them to archery.... NEVER AGAIN!! Not at Viking. As long as Tim Whiteford owns them, I'll never set foot in their stores again...

Wow glad I posted to get other feedback. Yes it was an older guy. I don't understand how someone with that kind of mentality can stay in business.
