    project mgt / contractors

Good grief - I am finding out our place won't be near ready till December. Mostly because contractors can't get stuff done because they have too much to do. Drywall / float / tape / paint and that is just to get stuff kinda ready.

Anyone else feel like their stuff is too slow?

Is everyone having the same problem or is this just my dumb luck?

    Oi!

Now contractor wants to charge close to 8k to paint the house. Good grief that seems high.

we had a contractor start the house 20 oct. we just got texture on the walls the week before thanksgiving. painting the ceilings was not in the original bid, and never discussed when we talked to him, even though we said we wanted to change wall colors. oh, and the ceiling paint wasnt going to be in all the rooms downstairs, meaning the tall arsed foyer ceiling that requires scaffolding to paint it, wasnt part of the ceiling paint bid. add'l $$ to paint that part. trim on our stairway wont match what will be installed on the floor even though it butts up against it. extra $$ that we didnt catch. EVERYTHING IS A CHANGE ORDER!

        How many sq ft?
A lot of siding, trim work?
Is he painting staining cabinets too?
Different color ceiling or rooms? Crown moulding?
        Builtins?

I wish my paint bill was 8k. It's all relative.

          Yes on Trim work.
          No staining cabinets
          No painting cabinets
Supposed to be same color in every room. Objective is to get contractor out of house as soon as possible. Hoping limiting the scope of work does it
