Today was a good day. We did a good amount of scouting. We had several areas we wanted to check out. I am almost 99% sure where I will hunt opening day. There was good sign up there. We even came upon a gut pile in the area we were scouting. Tomorrow will be scouting one or two more areas we didn't get to and exploring another area we saw late today I really liked the feel of, plus we saw the only elk so far real close to that area (3 cows and 2 calves). We saw a big coyote on the way up to crystal lake. I didn't get a picture of the elk. We also saw a fair amount of mule deer on the way back to town. Almost got one with the truck lol.

I ate at that DQ in Clayton, NM on Monday on my way back from a hunt. Never again...

Good luck on the elk hunt.

Ate there a few times, not by choice. Better off stopping at that grocery store and getting some sammich meat and bread. That gun store in Clayton has a lot of inventory, I spend an hour in there ever time we pass thru.

That is so funny about the DQ in Clayton. We go through Clayton pretty often, last time we did we stopped in to pee and eat. Wife went into the restroom, came right back out and said let's go. She said the entire place was filthy as all get out. She later told me we will never go back in that store.
