    Little Longbow For Grandson

Started building a little longbow today for my 2.5 year old grandson Spencer.

It's goind to be a parabolic back set. 36" nock to nock, and pulls about 8# @ 15 inches.

Still a long way to go to finish, but looks like it's going to turn out pretty good.

It is made from 1" PVC.

The cool thing about this type of build is, you can increase the draw weight by closing the concave on the belly side, or decrease it by opening the concave up.

        All done with heat.

I was going to do horn tips, but decided to do muledeer antler tips instead.

            Just got them epoxied on.

I broke it trying to do something fancy on the tips.

I think I can save it by cutting an inch off each end, and go from there. Maybe.

I think I need to build my girl one. How do you control the lbs it pulls when you build it?

I'm just winging it, and learning as I go, so not much help.

Most builds use the full round PVC piece.

I only had 1" PVC to work with. 1" will give some pretty high draw weight, so I ripped this one in half, and then tapered it to shape.

I've changed the draw weight by increasing, or decreasing the dept of the curve of the concave, but not sure how well it's going to work. Seems pretty flimsy.

I'm thinking a full round of 3/8" would probably be able to achieve a draw weight for a little one. I'm shooting for 8 to 10 pounds at 15 inches.

I'm back to the drawing board with it, and haven't had time to work on it at all.
I'll get back on it soon I hope.
