My dad and I killed bears in Minnesota a few years ago. I thought the meat tasted okay, but you had to chew it for 5 minutes and ours weren't big bears by any means.

Yep, early July. Application deadlines usually vary depending on when the hunt takes place. Believe they're from August through late fall for some of the hunts that happen in the spring.

A long way.... Toward the west side of the refuge. During a bowhunt two years ago I shot a small bull around the same area at 4:30 pm and got back to the check station a little after 11:00 pm.

That is an awesome bull! I got drawn for the LANWR special hunt and can't wait! Got a small bull a few years ago there with my bow, hope you're able to get one with yours, it is a challenge for sure.
