Average goes up when shooting premium high velocity shells. I've been known to shoot 1 1/4 oz loads of 6's at them. Never any smaller than 7.5's.

Did you swap out the bolt when you changed barrels out? Still sounds like a barrel problem to me. Since the bolt locks directly into the barrel on an AR, the upper receiver has little to do with it.
