about the rear end gears. Pull the cover off and there are numbers stamped on the ring gear.( E.G. 41 10, 40 11, etc.) a bit more accurate than turning and counting.

nope,acetone(nail polish remover). a soaked rag took most of it off. The stubborn spots I used a small wire brush. Then washed it in hot,soapy water then rinsed with hot water and let it air dry.
