2017 Lake Grapevine Hunting Thread

Hello to all the hunters and hopefuls. We are just a few weeks away from the opening day of the lottery. Let the mumblings, rumblings, and grumblings begin.

jbhunting39 05-18-2017 05:23 PM

There is no deer out there to hunt. Why sign up?

Yup, no point in wasting your time out there.

pervis 05-22-2017 12:17 AM

I've tried for two years now and no lucky ticket

Jen-Man 05-25-2017 06:21 PM

Hey, I've never hunted in that part of the state. Sure would like to give it a try. BTW, LSBA banquet is being held in Grapevine this year on June 24. We would be glad to have y'all stop by for some good eats and maybe even win you a hunt. Check out the LSBA website for more info.

I'm in to hear all the glory stories from the folks that get drawn again

topshot 06-04-2017 10:34 PM

Only kidding, just wanted to liven up this thread a little. Not much being posted about it this year. Everyone is keeping it a secret. :D

hahaha ain't no deer, hogs, or waterfowl at grapevine anyway. I don't see why everyone wastes their time getting permits.

Kmart49 06-05-2017 06:08 PM

When I was there at 4 there were roughly half of the waterfowl permits still available.

hooligan 06-05-2017 06:09 PM

No animals at the vine other than occasional meth cookers so don't waste y'all's time getting a permit

Ispdnxs 06-06-2017 04:50 PM

I have been lurking in the background here for about a year now. Went and applied for the draw about an hour ago. Tags issued are at the following numbers:

Waterfowl - 210
General hunting - 660
Deer draw - 470

Good luck to everyone this year, be safe.

-JC

The office has no idea how many of the permits are left for any of them or how many they have given out. They had 3 different guys handing out permits and they were all pulling from their own stack of permits. So they're handing out permits that aren't in order. I was like 74 on waterfowl and ultralite was probably 45 minutes behind me and was 311. There's no telling what is left.

that explains it...I thought we had a bunch of liars here :D

jbhunting39 06-07-2017 06:04 PM

I'm gonna have to pass on the vine this year so someone else can go in my stead. We are gonna focus solely on the lease this year! Gonna tune it up. There's no animals out there anyway except a squirrel and a rabbit I saw last year.

Blood Trail 06-12-2017 01:41 PM

I've been waiting to hear that for so long! Lol!

Heads up: gander mountain has decoys on sale for about $25/dozen.

Texas Grown 06-13-2017 09:42 AM

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check it out. Not that I need anymore. Think I had something like 12 dozen not long ago. Plus all my full body goose and sleeper goose shells, nother thirty or forty something. .:D

The fish are biting, and there's hogs to be kilt. Gotta go!

grizzman 06-13-2017 01:02 PM

Just got back from going out there. Got my lottery number (133) and general permit (618). Waterfowl permits gone. Guy at the COE said that there was a long line the first day for waterfowl permits.

SFAbowhunter 06-27-2017 10:03 PM

Pulling for 3 years in a row! Probably not much of chance, but hey you never know! Only 2 more months until we find out! That's a long wait.

troy_w_7 07-24-2017 09:43 PM

Dang it was hot. I was able to come quite a bit of ground. Found 2 old tree stands with spider webs all over them. Signs here and there of animals. Really glad I went out today!
