Team Gizzard 2011 Roll Call

Trying to remember what our official yearly status is (??)

Is this our 5th year?

Calling all Gizzard Epicurian Specialists!!

Time for another round.

Nut Up and sound off!

J.P. Here!

bowhuntertex 01-05-2011 08:11 PM

I knew there was a team that hadn't sounded off yet!!!! Can't wait for some gizzards....

Tubby 01-05-2011 08:27 PM

Throw me in the gut pile!

I'm in! ;)b

diamonde40 01-05-2011 09:44 PM

Will only be my 2nd. But i'm in also.

wpcattleco 01-05-2011 09:47 PM

Count me in! Since I got my rookie season over last year I'll know what to expect this time and hopefully be just a little more help. Looking forward to it and let me know if and what you need me to bring.

I'm taggin along with Diamonde40 and wpcattleco... Let me know how I can help...

simek 01-06-2011 10:31 AM

Last year, we went overboard on the gizzards . . .at least in the quantity department. I think I bought like 40#, which was about 20# too much. So, I suggest that, whoever buys this year (maybe Joe will be able to provide this year again, and ge them to Bownanza) cap it at 20#. As of right now, I'm pretty positive I'll be there, with the usual suspects in tow.

J.P., since we live pretty close now, perhaps a car pool is in order?

Dale Moser 01-06-2011 11:04 AM

I'll be there with the usual arsenal of gear.

Agreed! The greatness of Frank The Elder always ends up working too hard.

jpbruni 01-06-2011 11:28 AM

I agree as well. 20lbs is plenty. What do you think about the Mollejas? Do you guys want them again?

I would really like to carpool Chris and I am planning on somehow, some way being there. I have one possible snag however, my son Roman, turns 9 on the 3rd! Not sure what party plans are, but will need to keep you guys posted. Have not booked room yet because of this. May have to be a Day Trip or maybe catch the tail end and stay Sat night.

Has never been an issue before because Nanza has always been on the 2nd weekend

Chris, how many years has Team Gizz been in opereration?

J.P.

Duane 01-07-2011 02:21 PM

Simek, my presence is in serious doubt. You may wanna cut it down to 15# of gizzards.

This is un-acceptable, gizzards will not cook without bloody marys....it's like a law of nature, or physics or somethin...

Can you at least send 'ol Blue??

simek 01-07-2011 03:52 PM

Duane, if you don't come down, with whom will I drive down the college station light rail tracks the wrong way?

Duane 01-07-2011 10:48 PM

Dale, I think Humper will be mixing up some Kosher Bloody Marys.

Simek, that couldn't have been me. I think you were drunk.

simek 01-08-2011 10:42 AM

Yes, of course . . .that must have been someone else.

Ouch 01-15-2011 07:24 PM

Though I was very little help last year (that reads "zero"), I'll contribute what I can... and maybe even do something. After all, that was my favorite end of the lot last year. :)

Heath 01-16-2011 10:56 AM

I still remember talking to Frank at Logan's on 6th street about 2:00am about Team Gizzard that first year. I am glad that wall was there to hold me up.

I am in.

Im in. I missed last year so ill make it up this year. Yall just tell me what to brang

Tubby 02-17-2011 09:48 PM

do we have an idea of supplies yet?

Dale Moser 02-17-2011 10:25 PM

Havn't heard from Joe, who used to have the hookup on gizzards.

We usually just use this thread to talk a certain amount of noise.....until week of. Then we iron out our list, there aint much to it really.

Gizzards-Joe used to have a hookup for this, otherwise I think Chris gets'em, but we should probably spread the cost a little.

Grease-Me and Chicken will probly handle this.

Marinades-JP usually does this, but reg'lar ol fried gizzards and salt aint bad.....so we'll just roll with it.

Foil pans

Flour

Paper towels

I'll have the camp box with salt and such, there's usually paper towels and stuff in there too.

We are normaly short on prep, and long on production.......mostly due to Frank the Elder, Chris, and JP's..."production". I generaly bring the gear, talk, and try to stay out of Frank's way!

Tubby 02-17-2011 10:47 PM

I'll grab a sack of flour and I'm bringing a lot of papertowels for other teams so I'll have plenty as well.

I'm sure Chris (Ouch) can bring some foil pans.

Fire Extinguisher?

Dale Moser 02-17-2011 10:50 PM

Simek-Frank, the other Frank, knowledge, philosophy, wisdom, bonefishing stories.

Gizzards-Diamonde40 5 lbs, Saxet Nomad 5 lbs, WPCattleCo(surely a guy with a handle like that could find some mountain oysters for the grease?:D) 5lbs , JustinB 5lbs. (we will adjust accordingly if any of you gents can't make it, but we look forward to meeting you all)

Grease-Dale and Chicken.

Marinades-JP usually does this, but reg'lar ol fried gizzards and salt aint bad.....so we'll just roll with whatever he decides.

Foil pans-Ouch (Chris)

Flour-Tubby (Clint)

Paper towels and batter box are in my camp box.

We take any and all who would like to be members, all you need to bring is yourself, a decent handshake, and your own beer....or you can help drink mine!

Texas Grown 02-17-2011 11:55 PM

I never liked gizzzzzzards grow-n up. Till I got some from Team Gizzzzzzzzard! I'll be stop-n by for a few :).

simek 02-18-2011 01:45 PM

We should send Kulhanek for beer. He generally buys in bulk.

He's a bit of a miracle worker. A couple years ago I actually went home from Bownanza with more beer than I brought......and I'm quite certain that I drank at least 3 in the two days I was there. Weird....

Duane 02-18-2011 07:45 PM

killing me

Ouch 02-19-2011 10:08 AM

Foil pans it is... and a 5 er 10 spot for innards, I'm gueesin'?

Tmag 02-20-2011 09:20 PM

Looking forward to some gizzards this year. ;)b

extremehunter 02-22-2011 09:52 AM

Hope yall are by hotlips again.....It sure was convenient

kfd82 02-22-2011 10:26 AM

You boys dont limit yourselves to just 15 or 20 pounds. I'm gonna be there this year, and I like me some gizzards!
I'll be settin my cooler right smack in the middle of teams Hot Lips and Gizzard so I can go either way with each new cold one. ;)

diamonde40 02-22-2011 08:07 PM

WPCATTLECO, SAXET NOMAD and I just need to know what time we need to be there with the innards.

simek 02-24-2011 01:24 PM

Hey folks . . .just wanted to let you all know that the Simek clan won't be attending this year. My father and brother are going to be out of town, and, with a 5 month old, I'm pretty dang busy these days. I feel that you men will do a fine job carrying on the gizzard torch w/o me. I'll be there in spirit, fellas.

Seems like we usually start heatin grease by 10 or 11.....we just kinda go with the flow....and wait till people start lookin at us funny.

Dale Moser 02-25-2011 03:21 PM

This is sad news, to be sure. The Simeks will all be greatly missed! The gizzards will take care of themselves, but without the Czexican leadership.......they'll just be chicken guts.

Tell everyone hello for me, Chris.

That is the plan, shouldn't be a problem! You boys are plumb handy to have around too, especialy two years ago when it was cold!

Lookin forward to seein yall, we need to drop a bacon wrapped jap full of goodness in the fryer for about 3 minutes just to see what happens!

Hickory Nut 02-28-2011 01:24 PM

I guess better late than never. My gizzard connection just let me know that he had moved and has lost touch with the supplier. I was trying to line things up to ride down with Devin but I have so much going on that I better pass again this year. Good luck and watch the temp gauge.

Dale Moser 02-28-2011 01:28 PM

Glad to see you checkin in, Joe! Don't be a stranger.

I really hate this, but understand. The Simek Clan are **** fine folk. My glass will be lifted in yalls honor on Saturday. ;)b

diamonde40 03-01-2011 08:58 PM

To all Team Gizzard members. WpCattleco, Saxet Nomad and I should be there around 10:30 a.m. with 20 lbs. of gizzards looking for some flour and hot grease.

Man I really hate to hear this! Was looking forward to cold beer and hot grease w/ y'all.

GARY 03-01-2011 09:48 PM

Well if the Simek clan isn't attending, then I'm cancelling my flight and staying in Calgary!

:)

Juggernaut 03-02-2011 12:46 AM

I challenge any man, woman or child to a gizzard eatin' contest.

Not it.

But I will let you stand behind me and watch Tubby watch Dale watch someone else fry gizzards. It's the best spot in the tent!

:D

Ouch 03-02-2011 12:56 AM

I'll even try to hold your beer...
