Traditional FSC Week 16

Rick had us practice turkey shot placement last week; so, let's work on hog shot placement this week.

Just need a pen, a hand and a piece of paper to make this target -- no pesky printers involved !! ;)

Trace around your hand on a piece of paper as shown on sample pic below, putting a dot just beside the first knuckle of your index finger. The dot will be the aim point.

We're going to practice a quartering-away shot. Put the paper on the target butt so that the hand is oriented horizontal, with wrist toward the head. TURN the target butt or stand in such a way as to have a 30- to 45-degree angle.

Challenge is two shots on each of two days (4 shots total), with closest total distance to dot from 14 yards winning next week's call.

Why a hand? Because that is the size of the vitals on a hog, according to the Ranch Fairy. Also, dot is low due to vitals being low. Will post a link to a video he has about this.

Ranch Fairy video link is below. Shows several things, but video of actual hog innards is around the 8:00 minute mark. (Also noteworthy is the damage caused by and penetration of a heavy 2-blade broadhead.)

I'll start. First shot actually nailed the dot, but second arrow was low, so 2-5/16" total for Day 1 shots. Happy to land that first one "spot-on"! :)

Not know when I'll get to shoot, I got day 1 out of the way today.

I had to flip mine around to get 14 yards at that angle.
Hope that's ok.

So because I'm a bit dim, what does the hand represent?

No matter. Looks like shot one was two and an eighth and shot two was one inch.
Day one total 3&1/8th.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dac5bd327d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...718c0ff44e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...991e2675a8.jpg

So why aren't we shooting at the vitals?

Quartering away piggy. We are shooting at the vitals-- they're underneath the hand. Look at the Ranch Fairy video in the link. :)

And he likes heavy arrows.

Yeah I noticed that. I've killed a ton of pigs. One Saturday night actually. It's on ice now. I'm some wht familiar with the vitals. I just need to do my part with the bow and arrow. And at 3+ inches it don't look good. [emoji52]

I bet both of your shots kill a quartering-away piggy, Gary. :)
