Team Kid Food

I will go ahead and get this started. It went over very well last year.
Grilled cheese sammies for sure. There were as many (possible more) adults that came for these as kiddos. We will do the same but make more this year. They went over far better than hotdogs.
So join up, at least 2-3 others would be very helpful, you can be on other teams and if you just want to help participate in the food supplies that is great.
What we will need:
Cheese---lots of cheese
Bread----lots of bread
Butter--lots of butter
Pickles--1 or 2 gigantic jars of pickles will do well (I think pickles on the side goes well with grilled cheese sammies)

Thinking if it is cool and rainy, a pot of mater soup to go with the sammies may hit the spot for the kiddos as well. What ya think?

Please feel free to add to the list what you may like to bring, contribute or think the kiddos (of all sizes) would like.

I have an electric griddle. Lots of paper towels and paper plates napkins and plastic ware from last year.

TCRČ 01-07-2013 11:29 AM

Deb, I'm going to send you a $ contribution to help with some of the supplies. I'm not 100% sure I'm going to make it to Nanza, making every effort right now though, so I at least want to contribute something.

PM me your mailing info and I'll get a money order out to you.

I think 2 will be plenty Matt. That way we don't burn any sammies. Thanks for the offer. If you want to bring one just in case there is more sammie flippers helping, than we can whip more out faster.
Wow that sounds kinda strange don't it???:D

Call me slow but what is a large loaf? :o  :D

Is it the typical loaf one would buy at the grocery store?

DeadeyeDeb 01-07-2013 11:30 PM

Yes. Loaves can come in a short size(normal length) or a longer loaf size.

TCRČ 01-07-2013 11:34 PM

Ok....wanted to make sure.....can you tell I don't do much of the grocery shopping for my family? :D

Come on folks, many of you have kids, who wants to help/contribute?
Any thoughts on PB & J? Other suggestions on what we could do for kid food?

brianlg31 01-09-2013 08:27 PM

Deb are you going to set up under the pavilion again or do we need canopies?

Todd-ty729 01-09-2013 10:57 PM

You guys have koolaid type drinks figured in there!

A 5 gallon jug of Cherry Koolaid and a stack of small cups will last all day.

Just rinse it out before you leave in the afternoon. Mine still has a red tint to it from 2011:rolleyes:

I think it will depend on the weather. Will need electric outlet as well. It did well in the pavillion last year where coffee was set up earlier in the am. But, if the weather is nice, we could do it around the other set ups. And would need at least 1 long table. I have a long electric cord but, I can't remember if there was plugs near the parking lot area.

We could do this, but it hasn't went over to well in the past. But, if it is warm, it would be a good thing to have on hand.

I will add these items to the list of needs to consider.

Thanks guys for the suggestions!!!!!

I can bring an extra couple containers of koolaid. We bought 3 or 4, 2 years ago and only used 1 of them. It is just an ad water deal. No sugar needed. It will make 5 gallons.

Just had a thought cross my mind......will there be any heat source for staying warm if it is still cool out?

I have a small Little Buddy heater I can bring. It won't warm the masses but it's here if we need it. ;)b

DeadeyeDeb 01-15-2013 01:12 PM

It was cool and a bit rainy last year and we did alright. Team Kidfood was set up in the pavillion (next to the coffee!!!) and it was good there. May very well set up there this year as well, due to having electric plugs needed.
It actually turned out very well there and we ran out of cheese before we ran out of eaters!!!!!!
