    It's a simple fact.

I own a business that is seasonal. Fact is that in hunting season I have more time to hunt than the average working man.
However during TBoT season I'm working like a madman and don't shoot near enough and most of the time I'm sore as hell when shooting.
Not that it matters. Scores don't really matter as long as I shoot representing my ability which isn't top shelf. And I always have a good time at the shoots. That said it does matter during hunting season when shots count a lot.
They say you can have it all. But I guess I've got it pretty darn good.

I am on the opposite end of the spectrum. I rarely miss a local 3d shoot, and shoot almost every evening at the house. during hunting season I fight to get a couple of shots in throughout the week to prepare for a weekend hunt. When I do get to practice during season it is hunting scenario, make the one shot count... but hey, at least I get to make to the woods every couple weeks

I'm retired, but have lots of other responsibilities to keep me busy year around. It's rare to get a chance to go hunting, or to go to a shoot, but I do get out to hunt more often than I get to go to a shoot.

This brings up the topic of being ready for that first shot when hunting.
The First Shot Challenge was originally intended to help folks practice for that very scenario.
We used to just do one shot only, and it had to be the first shot of the day.
We've kind of gotten away from that.

True. And I think it has had positive as well as negative impact on participation.

I used to shoot 3D every weekend and multiple shoots some weekends. I shot 3d because I didn’t have the option to hunt. Now I’d have to give up hunting time to shoot 3D so I very rarely make a shoot. I enjoy 3D, but I don’t think there is a tournament out there that I would miss a hunt for.

I agree with you there about the First Shot

Gary I’d rather be able to hunt more than the opposite. I really do enjoy the 3D shoots and I’m fortunate my work schedule allows me to do both

I enjoyed the Vanderpool shoot today although by the end my shoulder was squaking pretty loud. Shot a round with some new friends and saw some familiar faces as well.
I don't have to shoot great to have a good time. And it beat working like the last few Saturdays.

So I guess I need to say, since both you and Rick commented on the FSC, and I've heard the same from one or two others, that Rick is the only one I remember participating in the FSC in the past who doesn't like the current way it's working.
Now I don't disagree with y'all and I may be the person who threw the monkey wrench in the machine with a challenge trying to emphasize the difference a warm up shot can make.
But if the format were to revert back to a true one shot only would you guys be participating?
Personally I can't always shoot and times like now when I'm not shooting much I take warm up shots before a sit for pigs.
But I also recall it always being the same few shooters and interest really dwindled.

I just would like to see more participants. The trad community is pretty small and we should be able to listen and learn and share in some fun.

I didn't say I don't like the new way, although I do like the old way a bit better.

I was just simply stating, that we have gotten away from it's original intent.

Can't disagree with that! I stink at it either way!

I would like to participate again. I did some of the challenges in 2019, but then we bought a house, moved, and we put a year into getting things going. We are finally at a point where we can start going to shoots more and hunting more, and it has sure been fun.

We enjoyed the HCS yesterday. Not as many people out as we saw two years ago, but everyone is just as nice as I remember. I love seeing the kids out there having fun. Ours brought her bow and shot a handful of targets. She loves the rocks and water and tadpoles, lol.

Thats good to hear. Id really like to wrangle my herd to some of events like Vanderpool. The littles are still a bit needy but getting more interested in archery.

I would participate in the FSC if it wasn't such a hassle to upload pictures to this site...
