    Javelinas

These little SOB’s wore me out this weekend! Missed several times high (they can move fast when they hear that string). Finally got a chance to redeem myself and held low...of course that one didn’t flinch! Blood trail petered out to a drop here and there after 50-75 yards. Pretty sure I just hit brisket and possibly clipped the offside leg. Sure was fun though. Will get back after them soon, after I get all these cactus thorns pulled!

I've killed them with a compound. Awesome fun. Really would like to try it with a trad bow.

Those things were built for bow hunting. Fun to spot and stalk.

Very fun to hunt indeed. Too bad they aren’t as fun to eat as they are to hunt!

Anyone have a good outfitter to go with? Been looking into it and really want to try this hunt.

I used to carry a trad bow unstrung in my truck in Mexico in the offseason so I had a weapon shot a javalina point blank in the head, never practiced enough. Its fun chasing them and more of a challenge that way. I know you had fun

I shot one with my longbow a few weeks ago in mcmullen county. Didn't recover him...but it was fun as heck.

Use to go with a group in the spring. Group kinda dissipated. Would like to go again sometime. Great fun.

That sure is a pretty bow. Maybe it's distracting you. :-)

Agreed. Also make enchiladas. Cook them just like pulled pork using a crock pot with a shoulder/ham but add bacon grease to the meat mixture before rolling the enchiladas. Adds some "moisure" and additional flavor. Tastes like pork to me and no smell.....
