    EoTech question

I am thinking about getting an EoTech sight for my urban sporting rifle and I was wondering what models and features I should consider. Trying to spend less than $700

    TIA

Some love them and some hate them. I have one and I enjoy shooting with it. Mine is a xp or something like that and it takes the 123 batteries. I also have an Aim Point Pro that I like better due to the battery life, NV friendly, and it can stay on for months without running out of battery. Both sights I have are around $450 or so.

I second the Aimpoint but I also have a Trijicon MRO that I like. Both have excellent battery life.

I have one and I like it a lot, mine is an EXPS3-0, the XPS/Exps line is what I would stick to personally.

Thanks guys, I was wondering about the AimPoint. And the EXPS3-0 line is what I was looking at too. Do you have the green or red reticle?

I have a red reticle, mine is an older unit which has some dimming issues that they will fix for free I just haven’t done it. I also just got an Aimpoint T2 which I haven’t shot yet but their line of micro red dots are killer.

Budget alternative with great reviews is the Holosun 510c as well. Was in a similar situation, was able to test a few out, and ended up buying it last week. I'd say its worth taking a look at atleast for $309. Got mine new on sale for $260

Whichever model you get, make sure it has an E in front of it. The E is the new generation that fixed a lot of major issues such as solar drift.

I like the Eotech from a functional standpoint, but find it hard to support a company who knowingly puts out and fields defective products.

For the record, i've owned 2 and never had any issues. I got rid of them in favor for longer battery life. However they still seem to be a crap shoot. Many still love them, and there are still many reports of defective units from the factory.

I love the window and reticle of the Eotech, but I choose Aimpoint for battery life and track record alone.

To me, the thermal drift was the most overblown issue as any optic can suffer from that at extreme temperatures.

It was the other issues like battery killing, losing it's purge and delaminating. They are still putting out units with these issues.

I haven’t exactly heard of these issues with newly produced units. They do kill batteries that’s just a fact, but batteries aren’t expensive.

When I say kill batteries, I don't mean the battery life, I mean reports of units killing fresh batteries within 24 hours.

To be fair, I think it's just a potential issue with holographic sights in general. I had a Vortex UH1 that did the same thing.

At least one of those above issues (I think the issue of them losing seal?) Eotech admitted in court to have known about and that it potentially affected every unit they have ever produced. I believe their excuse was they would have to completely re-design the optic to correct it.

Gotcha, yeah that is a problem for sure. Mine is a very old unit and does have the dimming problems

I really appreciate the comments guys. I'll look at the Aimpoints too. For me, EoTech is like Kleenex, just what I call all tissue paper, but also I didn't know other brands had caught and even surpassed EoTech.
                            Thanks again

I have an Aimpoint Micro (H2) on my duty rifle-- and it has been bombproof, great battery life, rattled around in my vehicle for thousands of hours and miles and has held zero, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

That said- I do like the donut of death from the eoTech-- which has led me to the Trijicon MROHD which has better battery life than the eoTECH, but with the circle/dot reticle and in a somewhat smaller package.

There had been reported parallax issues with the MROs so I don't know if that has been addressed but it is an optic that has my attention.
