    Carter Release dealers?

Looking at switching to a thumb release. I’m interested in some of the Carter models. Does anyone know of any dealers around New Braunfels, San Antonio and Austin areas? TIA

Can’t help you with location. But I did just buy a Carter Chocolate Lite from West Houston Archery in Houston. Absolutely loved the way it shot in the store. Very easy to draw, vary crisp and clean trigger. Also very adjustable. Can see why most people love them despite the price.

Unfortunately I could not get used to it and after maybe 50 shots gave up and decided to try the new Spot Hogg Wise Guy which I love and group very well with. I just never could group arrows consistently enough with the Carter, which I am sure was a form issue after shooting triggers for so long. But now selling the Carter.

Oh and if you are on the west side of hoist then West Houston Archery on I-10 the. They carry most of the Carter’s as well as Stans etc.

I just changed to a thumb release last month that is a Stan Perfex long neck thumb release I tried out at Leading Edge archery in Boerne. You need to try that release before you just jump in and buy one. They will let you compare different ones to see which you like. Been shooting wrist releases for a long time. The Stan has a lot of adjustment plus a feature to let you keep the release from firing but you can pull the trigger and practice. Good luck.

Archery Country in Austin has some Carter. Not sure if they are a full blown dealer.

Old Rick @ WHA let me test drive about nine different models before I ended up with Chocolate Addiction. Just make sure the shop lets you try a few different models before you buy. Fit it key to finding a good handheld release aid and the differences between models are very small between certain models. Personally I like a release that hooks up fully closed on the loop for hunting applications.

You need to commit to the change for at least 1,000 arrows imo, it’s a big change from an index release.

It is already mentioned, but you go buy Leading Edge Archery in Boerne. They will have some in stock, demos and all the guys working in there will one or multiple they shoot... that they will let you try out.

For a thumb I shoot the Stan Perfex as well. I've shot a lot of different brands including some Carters, but currently I like that one the best.

Thumb releases are kind of like bows, shoot as many different models as you can to find the right one for you.
