East Texas - My New Home

Well... 2020 has obviously been a crazy year. Having left a lease in the hill country because of absurd rules and absolutely NO bowhunting, I found a new home in east Texas.

Hogslayer78 (Mike) was nice enough to offer me a spot on his place and true to the TBH brotherhood it's been nothing short of awesome. Though it's not the hill country I've grown used to over the past 6 years, every kill out here is a true trophy in my eyes. Smoked a mature doe last weekend just as I was running out of meat in the freezer and then tonight, a 155lb pig less than 200yds from camp with the thermal.

I was laid off a few weeks ago due to COVID so all of this couldn't have come at a better time.

Sitting by a campfire, enjoying a cold drink while being in the woods... life doesn't get much better. Be grateful for every day and thank your lucky stars we're in Texas.

Nice job! And absolutely true...any bow kill in East Tx is a trophy. Hard hunting.

I ain’t gonna lie, I miss the heck out of hunting the pineywoods. I know some guys hate it, and I love seeing deer every sit here at the house (95% doe, but it’s still enjoyable) there is just something about home that will never leave my soul

I wouldn’t mind finding out how the other side lives tho, where they have 4-6 target bucks each year on camera I ain’t never had that, but it sure would be nice to experience it one of these years

                    Congrats

Hunting in the woods is definitely different than the the hill country

Congrats man. Sounds like a good time is being had.

God has put you where you need to be.

Hunting East Texas and Kerr/Kendall county are all I have known. East Texas is definitely more challenging, but also more rewarding. All IMO of course.

I second the statement " every bow kill in east Texas is a trophy". Congrats and God Bless Texas.
