    Deer Processing Regulation??

Are there a bunch of regulations for deer processing or could someone just do it on the side for some extra cash?? Thinking it might be worth doing since all the other processors are so backed up this year?

There are regulations for tying your shoes, so I'm sure once you look into regulations for meat processing it would blow your mind all the bs that a simple act would require to be "legal".....On a side note I know several local people who will process your deer if you drop it off at their house. If your just going to do it at your house and take in a moderate number of deer, I wouldnt worry about.

Most of it is record keeping. Wild game is completely different than usda. We are currently building a new facility now.

Yeah they are, I was at a new wild game processor last year and the guys where excited because they had just gotten their USDA approval and had their first load of livestock in to process

I think the difference is they have to start wearing white coats when they get USDA approved

Tagging in case you do this. I'm close enough to Aledo that this would be convenient.

There's probably nothing wrong if you offered to process a few (new) friends' deer for them, and if they feel so inclined as to leave you some beer money, when they come to pick it up..........

Don't advertise; just let them find you.
