    School curriculum

Are any teachers starting to see some crazy (more crazy than usual) curriculum?

My wife said at here school the "diversity board" is telling them to teach on white privilege, BLM and a few other things. She didn't read/watch any of it yet as she doesn't want to...

Just seeing if others have been seeing this crap. And if so what exactly are they telling you to teach. I'll bug my wife about it at a later date

I will tell my kids to walk out of any classroom that utters the words white privilege or blm. My wife hasn’t mentioned anything about their curriculum changing but I’m sure it’s coming. All white students will have to stand and pledge allegiance to blm every morning

None of that BS where we live, but the COVID preventatives are over the top. So much so that the entire teaching staff, two weeks in, will be so sick of it as to bail as soon as some teacher/kid gets the COVID with no symptoms. My wife teaches 6th grade and all the stuff they're putting in place is more work than teaching.

I've been seeing it for years. $70 million on a high school football stadium...and yet teachers make peanuts.

And yes, I know the $ doesn't come from the same buckets, but still. Everyone wants good teachers until football season rolls around.

And y’all got mad at me for saying defund teachers and give the tax money to Grocery workers.

I’ve yet to have one grocery clerk tell me I can’t have something because I ain’t black enough.

My kids are in private school again this year but we have been thinking about public again for next year. If I hear anything about privilege or blm public school won’t happen

My wife is a teacher and hasn't mentioned it. If she had seen it she would be batching about it. Maybe it's not for primary grades.
However I don't doubt it will happen.

I know it is tough to swing it (lot of coin in many cases) and not easy for us either, but I don't know if I would do it at this point.

I totally agree with the crazy sports facility stuff, but where I am from I don't see that the teachers make peanuts, at least not public schools. When I was on the school board of a Catholic school a few years back I learned what "peanuts" really were - degreed, teaching certifications, even masters degrees - most of them made about what they would working and Mickey D's. Many of them had spouses whose income made it possible but I guess you would have to say it was a calling.

What school district does your wife work for? I know Carroll ISD is considering some diversity measures, most likely because they’ve had several high profile racist incidents in the past couple of years but I haven’t heard of it happening elsewhere. I’m surprised if this is coming up elsewhere except for maybe the liberal enclaves in and around Austin.

My wife teaches 1st grade... She's ticked and says she will NEVER tell any kid they are better or worse than any other kid.

Mine as well. My wife said SEL training is part of the curriculum but none of what you described comes from TEA.

Only reason I am considering it is because my son 12 plays baseball in summer league and their school has no sports teams. He needs to be in a school where he can play baseball.

I know history will be watered down which I don’t understand. Education is the way you prevent things that were not productive from happening again. Educating people gives them power.
