I will keep this report short. Saturday, my wife and I traveled down Blue Water Highway towards SLP when just past the condos we noticed a large gathering of horse trailers, campers and tents. We weren't able to see people or anything as the dunes hid most from our sight. We even said that it was good to see people get out in the outdoors and have fun. Well, yesterday, we went fishing and afterwards, decided to travel towards SLP but on the beach. As we were driving and looking at the beautiful scenery, we came upon a wall of trash that was disgusting and somewhat dangerous. We then noticed this was the same spot where the horse trailers were and there was horse manure mixed in with the trash. There was just one last couple left behind and when I talked with them, they were very apologetic and embarrassed. They told us they stayed behind some to clean up around where they stayed, and that they didn't even ride their horses the night before because they were scared, people were drunk and acting crazy. I asked what was the group and they told me Texas Pride Ryderz Club. The trash was unbelievable, broken glass bottles of booze, cans, everything you can imagine. They did not pick up after themselves. On the TPRC FB page, you can see the ad for this event and that it was the 7th annual. I intend to make sure there isn't an 8th annual. My wife and I initially thought about buying a couple of boxes of trash bags and doing some volunteer work but then we got to thinking about the Covid, no precautions probably taken and I noticed there were no portta potties, so sanitation was an issue. I wasn't going to walk around in that crap.
I called Brazoria County Parks division and reported the mess and they will be taking care of it today. I then called the DA and actually spoke with Jerri Yenne. She was very interested in the situation, and asked a lot of questions regarding how I knew it was them. I was a witness to where they camped and where the trash was and I was told by a member who the group was. I don't know whether BC can do anything about this year but Yenne told me she was flagging this group and hopefully they won't be leaving this mess for us.
