When does the extra $600/wk for unemployment end?

When will they stop paying people the extra $600 per week? And are they working on another stimulus plan to extend it?

I'm so sick of watching people take advantage of this. One guy was doing the grocery pick up/delivery... He even claimed it. That's the one job that should be as busy as you want right now. Shows that the government doesn't even look...just give away free money.

I know people that are content because they are making over $1,000 at home to do nothing. Yes they made more when employed but are happy taking a break and still collecting over 4k a month..... I think it ends at the end of this month. Will suck for someone who gets laid off to miss out on that....

I heard it ends at the end of July. I get furloughed every 3 weeks for the rest of the year. It’s going to hurt when the $600 goes away, but I’m thankful to still have a job.

My wife was telling me they extended it, but may have heard wrong. I have a married in family member that is making way more money than she ever has due to this and is going to ride it until the wheels fall off.

When it does end there will be a rude awakening for a lot of folks.

I have guys ask me if I know anyone hiring and always tell them yes. One in particular is a laid off oilfield mechanic, I told him of a company looking for a lube truck tech that paid 19.50 an hour starting with plenty of overtime, insurance, company truck, paid sick and vacation time. Drive to a construction site and do oil changes and maintenance on equipment. The guy said I aint working for 19.50 an hour, that is a joke. I guess I was raised different cause I would of been all over that instead of drawing unemployment.

Well it should have never started... Which is why I'm wondering why the Democrats are not pushing for an extension. Maybe they are and I'm doing a good job avoiding the TV

I think what Trump did with the stimulus helps some folks who truly need it due to so many small business being killed by our out of control county and city elected officials. At the same time, there are way more people totally taking advantage of this covid BS. I am sick of hearing, sorry sir, we are working from home.... I've never seen so many people out walking/running/shopping every day of the week as I have in the last three months. We are currently shopping for a used vehicle for my daughter. We have visited numerous large dealerships here in the Austin metro area and their lots are half empty. When asked where all of their vehicle's are, I've been told by numerous salesmen, we can't keep new or used vehicles on the lot, everything we get is gone ASAP. Literally, most of their used vehicles are being sold before they get out of the service center after being traded in. I bought my wife some diamond earnings for our 20th last months. Independent jewlry store where I bought from (younger married couple who own it) set their hours from 1100-300pm every day after everything reopened. They told me none of their staff felt "safe" returning to work so the husband/wife owners were doing all of the work. They were "okay" with their employees staying home until they were ready to come back. Both times I went in there during the purchase, there were 2-5 people waiting outside to get in since they would only let two customers in at a time. Mind you, they had put up plexiglass shields around all of the jewelry cases, masks required, only two customers allowed at a time, etc.... If I owned that business, my employees would have had one day to get back to work or I would find new help. The owners didn't act like it bothered them at all that their employees wouldn't come back. Unfortunately many people receiving the extra money have the ability to go back to work, they just don't want to.

Should have never been part of the unemployment plan! The nation already has a unemployment system in place.....enhancing that system with an additional $600 was a political decision, that both sides loved! I vehemently disagreed then and will be appalled if it continues in the upcoming bi-partisian second wave of umemployment. Yes, a second round is already moving thru the halls of congress. Seems to be alot of disagreements this geaux around but the proof will be in the final legislation. During an election year all bets are off, even in a normal year......2020 has been far from "normal!". Both parties will give away the proverbial farm to placate "potential" voters...…….just sad!

The owners are learning a super valuable business lesson. They will learn how to streamline their business and become more efficient. Efficiency = greater profits...…...that new learning will definitely bite the employees in the rear end at the end of this episode.

I’m in the same position currently. 1 week of furlough per month, it really will suck when that extra $600 gets cut, losing a week of pay and being the bread winner at home is never a good combo.

I am fortunate that I am still employed, but that doesn’t change the fact that my cash flow is being disrupted due to circumstances outside of my control.

The gov't created this mess, the money they are giving out isn't theirs, they don't make any money, they just take our money and are suppose to disperse it righteously as was agreed upon by voting and by our trusted representatives.
My wife just got cut at the University after 11 years, her boss was there 26 years. No forewarning, just "see ya" you no longer work here. That was her retirement job and all she has worked for to gain the position. Unemployment w/o the stimulus doesn't cover bills. She is very hesitant to go to work in the education industry because others may be making those cut s here soon also. It is a messy deal. At the same time my businesses have dumped so I really can't pick up the slack right now. We trust in the Lord and have faith that things will be fine but what about those who don't have that faith. WIll people take advantage, of course but that is everywhere in life.
