    DIY - Ranger Stuck A-arm bolt/bushing fix

I recently had all of the bushings on my Ranger replaced. I say all of them but really it was all of them except for one. The front passenger side had one bolt that was rust-welded in place and the mechanic couldn't replace the bushings on it without having to cut the entire A-arm off. A cost I didn't want to incur.

So to help fix the issue and reduce an annoying squeak I did the following.

I cut some thin pieces of hard rubber off of a pvc pipe coupler and trimmed them to size. I then shot a bunch of grease inside of the A-arm and wedged the rubber pieces between the A-arm and bracket. I secured the rubber pieces in place with some hose clamps.

Probably not a permanent fix but it will definitely buy me some time and when the rubber wears out I can easily replace it.

looks like a great bush fix, but he couldn't cut the bolts off with a torch or saw-zall and just replace them?

I had to saw-zall the bolt off and replace on mine but didn't do anything to the arm or mounting bracket.

You can cut that bolt off and put a new one in there without damaging the a arm

I'll try that if this doesn't work out.

Surely that bolt can be cut off and knocked out. On my 2008 I replaced the front ones and for some reason the front bushing has the bolt in the opposite way and you have to take the skid plate down for clearance. I had already bought new bolts so I just cut that thing in half and put the new bolt in from the other way. I could see no reason it made any difference. Good luck on yours.

Doesn’t sound like a very competent mechanic...

Does replacing these make a big difference on the squeaks etc?

I like it. That should work for a little while.
I had hell with a few of mine as well, but the impact took care of it.
