    Idaho elk help

Go to onyourownadventures.com. It's a forum on western hunting with guys who only hunt out west. There is a wealth of information in there, with dozens of different threads.

But be warned, if you ask that same question, you will likely get "thanks for joining and good luck" responses.

I hunted there last year, but Northeast of those units. It was dead. No bugling

There's a feller on here who went a few years back. First timer. Got a monster. Lives in Joshua just south of Ft. Worth. I'm try--n to remember his name and screen name. But my GOF brain wont let me at the moment. He's a heck of a bass fisherman too. Specially on Benbrook.

Just occured to me. Screen name "Carlock".

Pack clothes for all types weather. Hunted in 75 degrees two days later 27 and snow. Beautiful country hunted 3 years ago close to Soda Springs.

We will be hunting unit 77 the first 10 days of archery season. It’s our first elk hunt in Idaho so don’t have any advice that would help you.

Best advice is to just go. Nothing will teach you more.

Couple more. Elevation not as high as Colorado but everything straight up and down. Trekking poles are your friend. !!! Cardio is important but not as important as leg work. Stairmaster is your friend

I guess I’m now in the market for a ruck(nothing fancy), something with a frame, trekking sticks, elk calls and anything else anyone might have I’m not thinking of. We will be staying in a bunk house so no need or camp gear
