    2020 Republican Primary

I've never seen an incumbent lose a primary. But, for 2020 how plausible could it be?

I'm seeing stories about challengers thinking that Trump won't have a chance in the general, and that this might be the time that someone could knock out an incumbent in the primaries. Part of me thinks that it would be a futile effort since Trump has already proven to be able to beat establishment republicans. Other part of me thinks that if the democrats can find someone to rally behind, they could beat Trump. And, maybe a new republican candidate could unify the party.

If there was a potential challenger, who would it be?

I'd like to see Mattis/Carson on the ticket.

Would those be the same stories that put Hillary in the WH and crushing Trump? Don't see it happening...

Aside from something drastic happened, Trump will be the republican nominee for president in 2020, and stands a very good chance of getting re-elected

I doubt any serious contender will emerge to take out Trump in a primary.
With some Dems like Howard Schultz potentially running as independents it may split their base and help Trump in the general.
I think the bigger concern is who can follow Trump and what precedents have been set.

Unless something really dramatic and negative for Trump happens pretty soon, I don't see any serious challenge happening.

^^^ this^^^ to early to answer. However its not to early for MSNBC, CNN and so forth to answer that question with pinpoint accuracy.

I don't see any Rep that looks to be a challenger, and I sure hope the Dems never figure out how stupid their front men/women are.

MY president's base is stronger than ever.
There are always those that would cut their nose off to spite their face just out of pure jealousy. Most Republicans aren't that stupid and know that getting behind a clear winner is their best chance of survival.

Trump will be the nominee. I would like to see a challenger just so I could hear their reasoning for why they should be the nominee.
Trump has a pretty good record to this point.

I think I read that no sitting President has ever been booted by a primary challenger. He has the bully pulpit.
                        Go Donald...........

And yes the other sides mouth keeps digging the hole deeper and deeper......

Trump has nothing to worry about in a GOP primary. Recent polling indicates that 45% (+/- 4.5%) of Republicans are delusional enough to believe that God wanted Trump to become POTUS. With nearly half of Republicans indoctrinated to the point of convincing themselves that Trump's election was divinely orchestrated, the chances of any GOP challenger knocking off the chosen one are slim to none.
