    varget loads

Ive got some leftover Varget and wanted to see if anyone had some good deer loads for a 243.
    (m70 fwt with a 26" brl)

Id like to keep bullet weight in the 85gr range

im also interested in making a varget load for a 125gr Nosler BT for my 308
    (m700 24" brl)

Looking for nice easy shooters, I like speed but not trying to burn barrels

    Thanks TBH

You didn't say what bullet brand but the Hodgdon site shows Varget for the 85 grain Barnes TSX 34.3-36.5 grains using the Winchester Large rifle primer.

I’m running 46 grains of varget under 125NBT in Lapua brass and cci200 primers for my son. Right at 2700 FPS in my 2019 APR build 20” barrel. It’s a 1 ragged hole round at 100 yards and under an inch at 200.

thats kind of what im looking for on the 308. something in the 2800 fps range, nice easy shooter with plenty of pop at impact

That 26" barrel should give great velocities. Most .243 barrels are too short. I have been disappointed when chonographing the .243 with a 22" barrel.

That being said, it is one of my favorite rounds, and I have never lost a deer that I shot with it. The first deer I ever shot is the only one that has ran, and it had a 4" exit wound in its chest.
