    Wolfe City/Fannin County Deer

    Hey guys,

Just curious if anyone hunts in southern Fannin county around Bailey and Wolfe City? Curious to know the deer numbers and quality. Looks like a lot of agriculture in the area. Wheat, cotton, etc. Looking at some property in that area.

    Thanks, Case.

I hunt between Ladonia and Commerce so fairly close. Lots of hogs like mentioned above. Deer number aren't great but they are there. You probably aren't going to see a deer every sit but will have no problem filling tags. A good buck will score 120-130 but there are a few big boys around. A guy I hunt with shot one 4 years ago that we estimated 170+, main frame 14 point with short times but wide that we never had a pic of.

Thanks for the responses guys. The place we're looking at has a high line that runs through it, straight to the north sulphur river. As a crow flies its not but a half mile. Thinking those deer will run that high line.

I almost bought some property up that way, twice. The closer to a river (Red or Sulphur) the more deer you will have. Lots of hogs! Once the Lakes are completed and impounded the wildlife will be dispersed more. Good luck!

Are you looking to buy or lease?

Buy. I didn't even think about the lakes going in. That will definitely help the wildlife expand.
