    Building by a power line

Do you all know anything about building a house close to a large powerline.there is a high-voltage power line within 150 yards from the building site. A meter reader came out and stated that the the eMF was 10.5 EMF. Is it safe to build a house at this location?

go out tonight, stand under the lines and hold up a "fluorescent light bulb" then see if you want to build there.

Not sure it is safe to live in a house close to it.

Resale is hurt. Too many studies about this and birth defects. Not sure if it effects it or not but why put $ into something that could be worthless in future depending on future test results

So true. A widow lady needed to sell her well-cared-for house on three acres. The house was immaculate. Plenty of shade trees in the right areas. Her late husband’s workshop was a plus. Nice wooded creek area at the back. But the high voltage power lines with towers bisected the property lengthwise to the north of the house. That made it tough to convince potential buyers. Really hurt the desirability a great deal.

Power lines would be a deal breaker for me buying a house/place. Matter of fact when we were looking for places I googled earth some and when I saw the big power lines I moved on

There are studies that say its not healthy to live near them, while others say its perfectly fine. Personally, I would not build a house next to them. But a deer stand, yes for sure.

How high voltage are you talking?

                          It would
                          Be 150 yes from them

I grew up in a house 150 yards from large power lines and so did my cousins who lived next door and the neighbor down the road. There is nothing wrong with any of us. I doubt it really has any effect on your well being since we climbed them all time as kids growing up. Now for resale, I could see where it would be a problem for those that don't want that in their backyard.

By "high voltage" do you mean transmission lines? If so like previously stated hurts resale bad. If they are transmission lines and you wanna know the kva send me a pic of the insulators and i can tell you. They usually have a 100' easement as well which isn't great for resale either.
