NEW Chevy Colorado and having ISSUES

Best way I know to find miscellaneous knowledge.
We bought a2017 Chevy Colorado with the Duramx at the end of last year. It's the 4X4 model, and specifically for a work vehicle. I am the only one who has driven the truck, and I have used the 4 wheel drive a couple of times to get out of really loose sand. (I do not abuse trucks, and this one has been treated like a queen). Going down the Highway today I get the "Service 4 wheel drive" message across my dash.
Before I act like a true 100% @$$ (which I will due regardless)

Does anyone have any experience with this situation?

    Is it under warranty?
Alot of warning lights can be reset just by disconnecting battery and reconnecting. All of those electronics go haywire sometimes.
If not maybe a simple computer update.

If it's under warranty definitely get it to the dealer. Get the problem documented and let them start trying to get it resolved. Could be loose connections/wiring, a sensor, an actual transfer case problem, or several other things.

They have forums specifically for colorado and canyon trucks, they might know more on one of them.

Other than this problem, how do you like it? That duramax seem like a good engine?

The truck is very nice. For a new truck.
It's great my company wanted me to have a good ride, But I would have been much more happy in something no so teched. I am probably one of the few people who absolutely despise the new "programmed" vehicles. I don't need a truck to be a computer, I need one with a real motor, transmission, and gears. not all electric.
So yes, the duramax, for a modern vehicle, is a good motor and it has ran nice, also gets about 30 mpg when running down the highway.
I don't need to be schooled why this thing is supposedly so much better. I have a local diesel mechanic that does that daily. They also said go to the dealership.
I had hoped someone knew more before I dealt with a dealership.

When my Chevy said that it was the actuator on the transfer case. See if it will shift into 4wd when it’s telling you that.

I have a Toyota Tacoma work truck and a message came up
Service needed. Google and parts store pretty much says it's just a reminder to get service done.

Probably something simple like that in your case as well

This, same thing happened to my truck.

Yep, I agree completely. I think a 12 valve cummins with a p pump, manual transfer case, manual transmission is about as good as it gets. The less electronics the better.

My brother drives the GMC version of the same truck w/ the Duramax as well. He loves that thing by the way and can't quit talking a out its capabilities for a small truck.

I know he has mentioned that there is a forum specifically for those trucks. You might try to find that forum and ask there. I'm sure someone there would have a better idea than here in TBH..... then again, there's an expert at everything here on The Green Screen.

Does the truck have an owners manual?

It's going to be a module of some sort that got low voltage. New trucks have too many safeties.

Or it's about to blow up

Did it shift into 4wd? Does the Google have any knowledge of the light? Is it a common problem?

Most of those old "mechanical" trucks had stuff go wrong too. You just didn't have a light to tell you.

The 4wd does not work at all right now. Guess I get to go see the dealership today, which is about like getting a root canal through your nose.
