    Performance Chips... do they work??

I was thinking about getting a performance chip for my 2008 dodge Ram 5.7 hemi. Anyone found that they are worth the money?

    Thanks

They definitely do add some pep but it will probably turn into slowly turning it up as you get used to it. I like the idea of it's stock for a reason. Leave it and let it last longer then change stuff with it

I put a Bully Dog on an 08 Chevy. You could tell a difference in power for sure, but it created issues with the DPF long term. Even after I removed it, the issues continued.

I have a bully dog in my 2007 chevy 2500. It greatly increased my fuel mileage and it paid for itself fast. Don't know if it does the same for gas motors though.

Do some reading on the hemi fever time on the Dodge Ram forums. I’m thinking about going that route with mine. He gets awesome reviews.

Basically you buy the tuner (not sure what brand he uses). You send him data from your truck and then he will come up with custom tunes specifically for that vehicle.

I was reading and saw where a guy dyno’d his tuck before and after and I think he picked up 60 hp but that seems abnormally high for just a tuner. I’d expect 30 with his tune.

IMO they work best with exhaust and intake mods. Ie; Programmer/chip with a cold air intake and Flowmaster exhaust.

I would definitely do the research to see which tune is best for your setup. I tune everything once the warranty runs out. I just recently did my wife's Tahoe with a diablo tube and it is a completely different car. It went from being sluggish, to actually able to pull out in traffic. Tunes are a must in my opinion.

I had a 07 hemi. And I used a Diablo sport. Yes it really makes a difference. I tuned it for performance just to see but settled on fuel millage ended up getting 22 hwy.

Chips are fine, but nothing compares to a custom tune!
