    DirecTV/Dish Network/Alternative

Ok....I’m getting tired of paying a high price for Directv.

Are any of you guys OR have any of you guys turned off Directv/Dish network and went with some other type of tv options?

    Pros? Cons? Information?

    Thanks!

Try PlayStation Vue out. We like it and the interface on a fire stick seems to be user friendly. We have the cheapest package and pay $39.99 a month. They’ll give you a week trial for free. I cut the cord about a year ago. Tired of $350 bills for tv and internet.

Call direct and ask for the loyalty discount. The guy i talked to when the rush was on a few weeks ago said they do the discount program year round but for whatever reason (TBH) it gained a lot of press during the holidays. Dropped my Directtv bill by over $70!!

Here’s a link to the the plans and packages. You can try it for free and see if it works for you. If it doesn’t it go to the next plan. I just couldn’t get over paying for each box. At one point I was paying for four boxes with one free with U-verse. I won’t ever go back.

They also don’t charge you the ridiculous taxes and fees associated with cable.

I used an antenna with a tivo box for local channels and got playstation vue with the fire for awhile. Really liked it. Used the address for the lease for the vue. didn't have locals that way and it was cheaper, but I didn't need locals with the antenna. Would still be doing it that way except now where I live, I can only get internet through satelite dish which doesn't allow me to get vue properly.

We moved on from Direct TV Dish and went to:

Direct TV Now-yes owned by AT&T who owns Direct TV etc. cheap at 10 bucks a month. Absolutely sucked. The buffering is awful. You will never watch a show in it's entirety without buffering. I always watch the college games. No dice there. The more people are trying to watch the worst it is with buffering.

Do some research on them. Direct blames AT&T for the problems and vice versa. Same company so yeah. Not worth even 10 bucks. No contracts. Huge lineup for 10 dollars.

Hula-we are on it now. Buffering is once again a problem, not as bad, but still a problem. 40 bucks and if it were me I would drop it. Wife says give it a chance. No contracts. Bigger better lineup then Direct Now.

We have made contact with AT&T about our speed etc. We are at the highest available speed in our area. They suggested we get a booster to place in the living room at our cost.

Seriously considering just going to basic cable but even that's 54 a month. I have a antenna that catches 24 channels including the locals. I am fine with that, wife isn't though.

Got frustrated last night, called Directv and ended up getting my bill cut from $280/month down to $100.69 a month. I had to change packages, but I ended up losing channels that I never watched OR didn’t even know I had on my plan. They had been added with some promotional crap but I was supposed to call and cancel after 3 months. I even had the NFL ticket on there and never added that myself. 🤬🤬😡😡

I can stick with $100/month for a while now. Thanks for the heads up!

Call direct tv/dish and threaten to leave (call angry), they will start dropping prices and offer things for free.

I just switched to DirecTv now using a Roku stick and tethering off my unlimited data on my phone. I haven't had a single issue with a show or college game buffering and I barley have one bar on my cell phone. I get better TV than I do cell service. I have been looking at cell booster though just so I don't drop calls.
