Well I went out this morning hoping to tag a doe. I checked cams last night and hadn't seen much activity at all the past week or two. Even the hogs weren't coming in so I had little faith anything would show up. My plan was to leave the stand around 8:30 so I could hit the road and make thanksgiving lunch.
Bucks have been almost non-existent on this place this year so this was a real surprise.
Well about 7 AM this fella came easing out. I grabbed the ole .243 because I knew he was pretty wide and by the time I had my crosshairs on him he was leaving my clearing. I could only see his body and his head was behind a tree when I fired. Ran about 100 yards or so before laying over!
Should score mid to high 20s I think. Helluva buck for this area and I'm **** happy with him with what I've seen on this property this year. I'm off to Oklahoma for a week with much bigger bucks roaming around. Maybe I'll connect up there with my bow!
He was an 8 with a kicker off his left brow on the backside. 21.5" inside spread and has a double throat patch!
