Jack is Down!! - East Texas Buck in Jasper County

I named this buck Jack last year because he had a jacked up rack! He had one normal side, but the other side went straight up and then had an extra main beam with a drop tine coming off.

I had him at 40 yards one time last year and decided to pass on him because I thought he was 3.5 yo.
This year he grew a normal rack and had gained several inches! He is my biggest east Texas buck to date, but I really wanted to give him another year. I just couldn't pass on the opportunity he presented me yesterday! Also, the neighbors are not management minded at all! I just couldn't risk passing him up again, and seeing him shot with a 30.06 at 175 yards in November!

He came in chasing does the evening hunt of the day before. I drew my bow and held it for several minutes, but was never able to get a shot! I went to bed so sick at my stomach for not being able to capitalize on the close encounter, but at the same time thankful for the opportunity of being so close to him! The next morning I shot a hog when a group of 7 came in right at daylight. After that, I saw a buck chasing does through the woods, but couldn't tell if it was him or not. I had a couple of young bucks and some does come in close, but Jack never showed.
That evening I decided to move my climber to a different location closer to where I saw all the chasing going on that morning. It paid off big! Several does and a young 4 pt came through. I was watching them to my left when I saw some movement coming from the right. It was Jack coming in with his head down and mouth open. I ended up shooting him at 22 yards.

He had already busted a 2" kicker off of his left G2, and a small fork off one of his brows.

It wouldn't let me post this in bow hunting reports. It said I didn't have permission to post in there...
    Please move it if needed.

Awesome deer man. I know a lot of us that would love to put an arrow in a deer like that in East Tx. Congratulations
