I still haven't tuned my used Sarrels longbow but I couldn't stand it anymore. I have had posession of the new-to-me bow since October. Anyway, after shooting my recurve tonight, I pulled out her out and moved up a little closer. The longbow is 13 lbs. heavier in draw weight than my recurve so I knew I wouldn't get great arrow flight but I just HAD to shoot it. As I figured, the flight was a little erratic but the groups were pretty tight and man did it THUMP that 3D target! I can't believe how hard it seems to hit. Within my effective range, I think that thing will punch through just about anything with a good sharp broadhead. I also felt like I was getting a solid anchor so I think I will be able to work into it here fairly soon. For the record it is one of Bob's Teton longbows, 64" and 58lbs.@28" (which is about what I am drawing). I need to call Bob here pretty soon and get a couple new strings so I can get serious with it and start tuning some arrows. Still think I will try some cedars just for the heck of it. Have a great rest of your weekend. I gotta get back to work.
