    Found a nest of bunnies

My son and his friends were tearing apart our old wooden playset (yay! Saved me about 2 hours of work!) this weekend and found these cute little things under one of the foundation boards on the base.

I've not seen momma and I'm getting worried she has abandoned the babies. These are 9 yr old boys, I have no idea how much they disturbed the nest when they found it, but I have an idea and they swear they didn't touch the actual rabbits.

I've tried to keep them covered up with the grass and fur mom left, but I've been checking the past few nights and mornings and haven't seen her, but the nest was uncovered when I got home from work.

Should I assume that mom tending to them, or should I take them to the wild animal rehab center here?

Leave them where theyre at momma will be back. I find a nest at least once a year in my yard while mowing. Always seem to survive.

Leave em, they almost always die if you try to "save" them.

Told leah if we were replacing it for the girls we were paying SOMEONE ELSE to put the next one up!

2 didn't make it through the night. Not sure if the rain killed them or something else, one was drug away from the nest and had trauma

Rabbits spend about 5 minutes with their kits a day.

                  They nurse and leave.

                    Might have been momma.
She will drag dead ones out. Also they sometimes eat them . I know very weird

                      Found a nest of bunnies

I bet we've had 5 different nests around the house this year. The first one several months ago, and the most recent laste weekend are the tinyest ones I've ever found. We had to move them out of the dog yard...hope momma finds them, but there are HUNDREDS in our neighborhood now as is. I imagine the coyotes will be getting more bold too.

                      That's a kids play shovel.

They were relocated Saturday morning, and still alive last night, reckon she found them and is nursing? I didn't think they'd make it that long if not.

Wish you were closer. I'd take them off your hands and raise them

I hate it when my mower finds them.

Stray cats is what got them.. I walked out last night and saw a cat standing over the nest, and 1 kit was already drug out.

I was able to "relocate" a 2nd stray cat later that evening.

Wife and I decided there was NO WAY we could keep the stray cats at bay all night as our neighborhood has a lot. Temps were in the 50's and the nest and kits were drenched from heavy rains.

We made the decision to move them to the garage. We did not want to separate from momma but I figured their survival rate was around 0 between the cats who had located the nest and the raw weather conditions.

Wife dropped them off at the local wildlife rehab facility this morning
