    Pope and Young?

I have a large bodied buck coming in to my feeder and I call him Fat Albert. He's so big many experienced hunters have asked me if this is a Texas deer. As far as I know he is and I have no reason to think he is not.

Anyhoo, I think Fat Albert will exceed 120" this year. His main beams are palmated. I have seen him personally this spring and the other night my son was hog hunting and saw him at my feeder.

My question - finally - is I have a 28" hog panel fence around my feeder that deer can easily jump. If I shoot Fat Albert inside that feed pen, will he and I be eligible for P&Y? Or, should I plan an ambush on the trail that he uses to get to the feed pen?

btw - the panels you see are no longer that big. I put in the hog panels.

That one was December 2016, right after he broke one of the beams. The broken beam has a forked G2, like a mule deer. Even broken, he still exceeded 13". And, he has a son that looks just like him.

I doubt that fat SOB can jump 28" high.

I think the feeder pen is fine but......

-By the use of electronic devices for attracting, locating or pursuing game or guiding the hunter to such game, or by the use of a bow or arrow to which any electronic device is attached with the exception of lighted nocks and recording devices that cast no light towards the target and do not aid in rangefinding, sighting or shooting the bow.

Hmm does this mean if you have an electric timer on your feeder it isn't fair chase?

Think it is ok, as long as the feeder isn't attached to the bow. Just like a range finder is fine, as long as it is not attached to the bow.

As far as a feed pen, that is no issue either. The deer can easily jump in and out.

                Good luck getting him.

Hog or cattle panels will not keep any animal killed inside that pen out of P&Y and neither will feeders. If that was the case the P&Y record books would not have a lot of deer in them and not a heck of alot from Texas. At least in my opinion. I have scored many a deer from Texas that were killed inside a feed pen and had a feeder inside them and were entered into P&Y.

That's the smallest set of antlers I have ever seen on a moose.
