    Easy Come Easy Go

My new to me long bow arrived Monday. I had fun shooting it for a couple of days but as the week progressed I decided that I do not like the grip. So I decided to let it go. See the ad in the unclassified classifieds.

When I don't like a grip I make it fit my hand....
    That's a purty bow

If it doesn't sell I will get out the rasp and sandpaper. I am just trying to save myself one more thing to get done. Or I could start wearing a bow hand glove where I wouldn't notice the grip as much.

That's a pretty big palm swell for me as well.

That swell is the problem. It pushes my bow hand so high that I risk sticking feather quills into my index finger. I already have one piece of quill stuck in there that makes a constant sore spot on the base of the finger.

It's traded for a Dwyer. I do like to experience different bows. The next one should fit better. Trading bows is the fastest way for me to try them out considering where I live. Even if I take a bit of a loss, it is still cheaper than golf or fishing.

              Yeah and golf sucks.

I never played, but from afar, it looks too much like work to me

It is a handsome bow. First thought I had was that swell looked like it would cause a high wrist position. ( I learned via this thread that the hand hump is called a swell. Thanks DRT and 60Deluxe ) As far as Ive gathered a high wrist is the most unstable wrist position...argueably the hardest wrist position to repeat consistently for developing repeatable shot cycle.

I have some high wrist bows that work pretty well. I have found through trying many bows that I naturally prefer an almost straight grip similar to a 1957 Kodiak. But there is something to be said for grips that force your hand into the same spot every time that you hold the bow, but this one has a ridge that was not placed correctly to fit my hand. It was a irritating as having a skinny gal sit in your lap. After a few minutes it gets pretty uncomfortable.

Surely you know how painful those boney gals are. I can hardly remember because it has been decades since skinny gals were attracted to me.

I think I would risk it. No pain no gain. [emoji41]
