    winch up feeder question?

is anyone running a worm geared winch on their feeder ? if so can you run it up and down with a drill driver{like a 24v dewalt hammerdrill}.or was a double pulley system also needed? any pics appreciated

No but when I get mine back I have seriously considered it. I loaned it out to a friend a couple years ago but his lease is up and he's not gonna renew so I will move it to my ranch. That's an option.

reason i'm asking we have some at the lease that belong to the ranch owner and he lets us use them and for doing so I was wanting to upgrade the winch to a worm geared type and double pulley system so I could run them with drill

I'd go with a double pulley system. It takes a lot of stress off the winch. I see no reason the worm geared winch wouldn't work so long as it has a brake.

I havent seen or heard of others using them either, kinda makes me think there is a reason they don't.

The regular winches work very well and I personally wouldnt try to recreate the wheel they arent that hard to crank if you use the two pulley setup.

there was a company selling them already rigged with a nut on the worm gear so you could just attach you drill/driver and go
