DIY Mobile Ground Blind - prefab

My uncle and I made three of these on Saturday.

Our place is very rough and far from home so anytime I can prefab something I do. This saves me a ton of time while I'm up there to tackle other things that need attention.

I used the 5 foot welded wire they sell at home depot.

The welded wire is 20ft long and the roof is 10 feet long.

I will bend a few pieces of rebar to help secure the roof to the sides.

I will attach the door and roof once I get it where I decide to set it up.

I will also wrap the blind with some plastic mesh fencing and zip-tie a ton of cedar to it.

Once I'm done you won't see any of the blind just cedar.

You can carry the blind with one arm minus the door.

That's a cool idea! Will you cut windows out when you get it on location or what's the plan there?

        Yes thats the plan.

We have some topography so I never cut windows until I get it set.

Good call. Ballpark all-in cost to build one of these?

This is what it will look like when I am done.

            Attached is my material list.

The length of the roof isn't listed in the material list but it is 10 feet.

The door will over lap on all four sides with some weather stripping so that it is as air tight as possible.

I hunt with a recurve so I make my blinds tall and roomy. Someone using a compound to make a smaller blind than this.

220 swift -- The green stuff is wind fence that you see at construction sites.

I monitor construction sites around my house and a lot of times they throw it in the dumpster = so I grab it.

ttubud -- I reclaim all of the wood the best i can from construction sites.

                  My only costs are:

2 rolls of 3.5M black plastic = $10 per roll.
1 roll of the cheap plastic green fencing = $10
The welded wire is $107 for 100 feet. (this build needs 30 ft.) so $call it $33
All the other stuff probably adds up to another $30 (hinges, weatherstripping, zipties, screws, u-nails, bow holder)

That looks great! I will be making 2 similar versions of this in the next month or so....got some great ideas from your build. I really like the cedar brush zip-tie idea.

Just tried to buy that fencing at Home Depot and Lowe's here in NB. You have to buy a roll of 150'. They don't let you cut the lengths you want.

Bummer, this was going to be my next project

Correct you have to buy a whole roll.

Not sure why they don't have the same stuff at different Home depots but they don't.

The roll I bought (the welded wire) is 5ft tall and comes in a 100ft roll.

The green plastic I buy is bard green and comes in 25 ft rolls.

I might add that the welded wire I use is found in the concrete section not the fencing area where they sell the chicken wire.

                          good luck.

The guy told me it was 150' and it cost $107. I bet it was really 100'
