    Texas Shootout

I see this will be in Feb.. Can Anyone give me added information about this? Who has been previous?.. Is the place large enough to handle that many hunters? Any information greatly appreciated.

Been going for years. At The Callaghan and the new ranch. New ranch isn't as big but can handle all the hunters they let on the ranch. Still a great hunt. Here is the website with all the info and pics. I'll be there for sure!!

I have only missed 3 years in over 30. Have you looked at their web site, info and pics? Not as big as the old Callaghan Ranch. But they only have 300 hunters max, still lots of open areas to hunt. "texasshootout.com"

I have checked out there website but people don't usually put the bad only the good.

Ultralight09 and I are thinking about making the trip just wanting to get some real experiences and there is no better place than TBH for that.

we would probably bring a trailer with gens and a wheeler. I don't know about Dan but I have no experience with javis or south texas terrain

I have been the last 2 years, its a blast. Plenty of room for the number of hunters there.

41chevi will be there for sure. Lots of room for campers etc. The only draw back is the corn was $10.00 a bag last year. They also have a drawing for prizes, and most ate very nice.
                  TIPS:
Bring a bandana or mask, as it will get dusty on the road going and coming.
Have some sun screen, for the face and ears.
Tweezers to remove those sticky things.
Snake boots, but not a must if you watch where you walk.
Tarp or cover for the wheeler, gets damp in the morning
It can get in the teens in the morning and 90's in the afternoon.
I bring rubber boots also in case it rains.
When you shoot a Javelina, leave it lay for 30 min. and flip it over and let it cool. This will get MOST of the Flea's off.
Don't cut the sent gland on their back.
Like deer, they like corn, but don't over feed the roads.
Fire wood, we have each of out guys bring an arm load.
                  Hope that helps.

I've been 5 times. It is always a dang good time. Just haven't had the extra money the last couple years to attend.
