    Houston Area Shooter of the Year

    How about a shooter of the year for the Houston area like the boys up north are doing (DFW Area)? Maybe something like you have to shoot at least one club shoot from each area club and your highest score from each club adds up to the top four shooters in each class then you have a shoot off?

    Just kicking it around. Maybe
    Saltgrass
    MCAC
    Buffalo
    Banana Bend
    Brazoria maybe?

    Thoughts?

      I think it's a great idea! Gives people something to shoot for and helps promote all the area clubs in the process!

        Man I would love to!!! I really need to. The boys (Matthew and Hunter) are shooting really good these days and typically beat ol dad!!!

          If anyone is involved with the Houston are clubs mentioned get with me. Maybe we could all get together and come up with something. I think it would be fun.

            I bet Banana Bend would be in. I will ask tonight at the club meeting.

                    Fingershooter, I can tell you that it has been a great thing this year bringing all the area clubs together. We started with a simple meeting with club officers and bow shop representatives to discuss schedules and coordinate them so we were not having events on top of each other. Then we discussed ways to increase attendance at club shoots and from those discussions our DFW shooter /club of the year tournament was born. I can say we have definitely seen an increase in attendance and made some new friends along the way. I would suggest visiting your area clubs when they have a shoot and start the conversation, if everyone gets on board you will not regret it. Not to mention what could become of a DFW / Houston area rivalry!

                      Does anyone have the contacts for some of the officers of the Houston area clubs. I do not know them that well. If someone can send me some contact info I will see if we cant get this up and going

                        Clint Montgomery here (Executive Director Texans Archery Club & Texas Archery Academy). I was involved in the DFW area meeting of clubs and happy to lend any assistance. I have also proposed offering more than 3D to next year's competition. Maybe something that becomes a fundraiser for all the clubs. A conversation with south Texas clubs is also productive. We could create a statewide competition system with District, Region, and State.

                        These things move slowly... as synergy has been hard to achieve in Archery anywhere.

                        Texas Archery Academy will be promoting program expansion to the Houston area come 2016-2017.

                          Our shoot schedule is from Feb - Sep.

                          We had our last shoot of the season this past Sunday and are kicking around the idea of having a shoot team from club, hit all of the other clubs in the Houston Area at least once per year next season. We would be interested in talking it over.
